After two babies and a lot of trial and error, I can confidently say that baby #3 has been our most prepared newborn era yet. We finally know exactly what we need and more importantly, what we don’t.
I’ve been sharing our newborn must haves over on my Instagram (@thequaintspace) and I wanted to put everything in one place for you here. Some of these were gifted to us, and some are products I purchased myself and keep coming back to, but every single one earned its spot on this list.
Whether you’re building your baby registry, shopping for a friend or just in your 2am scroll session looking for reassurance I hope this helps. 🤍
1. Babylist Try-It Boxes (Pacifier, Swaddle & Bottle)
One of the smartest things on our registry this time around. If you’ve ever bought six different pacifiers hoping your baby would take one, you know the struggle. Babylist’s try-it boxes let you sample before you commit, which saves so much money and so much frustration. We did the pacifier, swaddle AND bottle boxes and I cannot recommend them enough for first-time moms especially.
2. Nanit Baby Monitor with Stand
Worth every single penny. The Nanit gives you breathing motion monitoring, sleep stats, and a crystal clear view of your baby without ever having to open the door. This is our first time using it and I don’t know how I survived without it for my first 2! If you’re going to splurge on one thing on this list, make it this.
3. Hatch & Hatch Go Sound Machines
Our whole family runs on these and I mean that literally. The original Hatch lives in the nursery and the Hatch Go comes with us everywhere. Having a consistent sound environment for baby no matter where we are has made such a difference in our sleep (yes, ours too). These are a must have newborn essential that will last you well beyond the newborn stage (still using for my 7 & 5 year old!)
4. Baby Towel Set (Towel, Wash Mitt & Washcloth)
Bath time just got so much cuter. This set has everything you need and nothing you don’t, the hooded towel, a wash mitt that makes bathing a newborn so much easier, and a soft washcloth. It’s the kind of practical meets pretty find that I love adding to a baby shower gift too.
5. Heirloom Baby Outfit
Some things are just worth slowing down for. We invested in a beautiful heirloom outfit for baby #3 and I already know it’s something we’ll keep forever. There is something so special about dressing your baby in a piece that feels timeless, especially since this is our last baby.
6. Evenflo Dual Shyft Stroller
Managing life with three kids in public is a whole sport, and this stroller is my MVP. The Evenflo Dual Shyft is incredibly versatile. It converts multiple ways and grows with your family without taking up your entire trunk. If you have more than one child or are planning to, this is the stroller worth researching.
7. Soft Baby Blanket from Amazon
One of my good friends gifted me this small blanket and I have to say, it is the perfect gift! It is very soft, washes beautifully, and has become one of baby’s absolute favorites. Proof that you don’t always have to spend a lot to find something really wonderful.
8. Magnetic Me Onesie
Whoever invented magnetic closures for baby clothes deserves an award! Magnetic Me makes 3am diaper changes almost tolerable. The quality is great, they wash well, and once you go magnetic you truly cannot go back. A newborn wardrobe essential.
9. Foodie Baby Gift Set (Plate, Bowl, Bib & More)
This gift set is almost too cute to use but we absolutely will. It has everything you need for the feeding stage and it all coordinates beautifully. This is one of those items that photographs well AND functions well, which in my world is the ultimate win. It would make the most beautiful baby shower gift too.
10. Biome Wipes & Dispenser
Wipes are not all created equal, and Biome wipes proved that to me. They’re gentle, effective, and actually good for your baby’s skin. Plus the dispenser is genuinely pretty. It looks good sitting on our changing table, which matters more than people admit. Aesthetics on the changing table are valid. I don’t make the rules. 😂
Third time around, I’ve learned that the best baby products are the ones that make your life easier while keeping your baby happy and safe. You don’t need every single thing on every registry list, but having a few really great products makes all the difference.
